Andalusia

The Land

The land unites everything what one can only wish as a traveller: marvellous nature, culinary specialities and genuine culture. Because of the extensive beaches a lot of tourists, are coming here every year. However, this part of Spain offers far more then that.

The Region

was stamped by the Phoenicians, the Carthaginians, the Romans and the Moors, whom left their tracks everywhere.
Andalusia exists of eight provinces: Almeria, Málaga, Granada, Jaén, Córdoba, Seville, Huelva and Cádiz.
Framed by the Costa del Sol (Mediterranean Sea) and the Costa de la Luz (Atlantic) there are many possibilities to explore the surroundings and to get to know the land.

Culturally

There’s a lot to discover, by the visits of old buildings, museums and flamenco evenings. There are destinations enough, from the coast, the white villages in the inland, up to the bigger towns of Seville and Córdoba.

Take your time to investigate everything, because hectic is here a foreign word.

Costa de la Luz

The beaches on this coast are from a unique beauty. They apply with some interruptions of the border of Portugal in the north up to the headland of Tarifa in the south.
Except during the midsummer, the beaches are mostly desolately and during long walks one meets only seldom other travellers. The heat of Andalusia is reduced by a steady wind, so the summer is to be endured rather well, on the coast.
The scenery, with his partly rough climate, has his quite own charm. The possibilities for the holiday creation are almost limitless. The palette reaches from sport and fun, rest, up to cultural investigation of the history of this land.

Chiclana de la Frontera

lies at about 8 km from the coast, near the humid area of the Bahia de Cádiz. Here are still many salt works and pisciculture ponds. The Bodegas in the centre, in which one can taste the local sherry and brandy, are interesting. There is also a small covered market with fresh food, from which, the fish offer especially, stands out.

Novo Sancti Petri

is a modern holiday place originated, on the occasion of the world exhibit in Seville in 1992. Here lie, directly on the 8 km long beach, many hotels and a big number of holiday apartments. Embedded in the place you find a 36 Hole Golf Course.
There are also a lot of possibilities for other leisure activities, like tennis, horse riding, bicycle tours and a lot more.

El Puerto de Santa María

is known by Christopher Columbus who lived here from 1483 - 1486, and organised his 2 America expeditions.
The place has a big yacht harbour, a casino, and is for numerous Spaniards a preferential holiday destination during the summer. The most significant Bodega is the Osborne one, known also by the bull which is almost a national symbol.
A matter of taste is the bullfight, in one of the biggest arenas of Spain. A visit to one of the many, high class restaurants which are to be found mainly in ancient Palacios, is recommendable.

Conil de la Frontera

This place is an original fishing village and has changed in a pleasant way to a holiday destination. Conil is the only white village which lies directly by the sea.
During the day it's very quiet in the centre, whereby the more lively evenings it's worth to take a stroll by the bars, shops and restaurants of this cosy town. Most bars look rather insignificant from the outside; however, inside one mostly finds a big patio in which one can celebrate under the free sky. Then on the wide, long sandy beach one can relax during the day and collect new forces.

Cádiz

The capital of the province was founded by the Phoenicians and counts as the oldest town of Europe. It was a significant commercial place during the past centuries and was fought a lot. The Old Town with the narrow lanes and small shops is really worth seeing, also the visit of many famous buildings, museums and the little gardens all around the town. The harbour is an anchorage of many cruise ships and sailing ships.

Jerez de la Frontera

The town is known by the century-long tradition of the production of sherry and brandy. Also the Andalusian Carthusian horses are to be admired here. In the royal horse-riding academy you see the art of the dressage. The visit of one of the many Bodegas is very interesting, which has to be followed by a visit in a Venta (a small typical restaurant) where one can enjoy some Tapa (a choice from small local dishes).
In the evening one relaxes during a cosy flamenco night with dance and song.
